Lobo

This dogs name was Lobo and he belonged to my aunt and uncle who I would stay with every 2 summers. He’s around 8 years old in this photograph but we meet 12 years ago when I was 14. During our first meeting we seemed to form a strong bond.  Even though spans of 2 years would go by with us seeing each other he would always remember me and get excited when I approach him.  This photo was taken during one such encounter. His tail is somewhat blurry (cause he was wagging it with excitement).  He was always very affectionate and friendly which is probably why we bonded so well.  I really liked that Lobo; I’d have taken him home with me if I could have but that was never an option.  This past summer I stayed with that same aunt and uncle again and when I went looking for lobo I was told he’d died earlier this year.  That was terrible to hear and a horrible way to start a vacation.  My aunt and uncle have other dogs now but it’s not the same, lobo had a unique personality.  It’s hard to explain but I feel as though I’ve lost a childhood friend.  I miss lobo and am disheartened that I couldn’t have spent more time with him before his passing.
