The Cracked Teeth

This is a picture of a prop that I used to shoot my final 5 minute drama for school.  The whole production hinged on this prop.  For a while there, I thought I wouldn’t be able to find a pair of fake teeth that looked like dentures, but a friend recommended I to go look in this joke store downtown.  Lo and behold I found the teeth immediately after I entered the store and I was ecstatic.  One problem. It cost me $12.99 plus tax.  If I didn’t buy them, I would have to rewrite my story and with only few weeks away from the project due date, I had to pay up.  I shot my project a week later.  If you take a good look at the teeth, you’ll notice a crack.  That wasn’t there when I bought it.  In the scene that I had to shoot, the teeth had to fall out of someone’s pocket and onto the ground.  We go into rehearsals and I say I want them to practice.  As soon as the teeth hit the ground, they break in half (in rehearsals, for god sakes).  Well with the help of superglue and reshoots the next day.  The scene was shot and the project is history.  But man, you’d think I get a sturdy prop for $12.99 + tax.
