I was on the verge of closing one chapter in my life and starting a new one. I was saying Farewell to my home, family, friends, and comfort; all of which I had taken for granted at some point or another. As difficult as this was for me to do it felt right – it was what I wanted and needed to do. Everything had happened so fast and all I knew at this point was that in eight short hours I would be at the airport waiting to embark on a new adventure.
That night I went out for dinner and coffee with my closest friends. We spent a good chunk of time laughing as we reminisced old stories of adventure and misadventure. Although it was hard for me to grasp how things were about to change I was filled with the comfort that I had forged solid friendships that could endure the test of time and distance. As the night came to a close and my camera battery began to die we started to take some fun photos. This was our third attempt to catch all of us in the air while the camera refused to focus properly - it ended up being the most memorable photo of the night.
I look back on this photo and am reminded how much things have changed in the last few years and how much they haven’t. As one chapter ended in my life another began with more optimism then I could have imagined.
